What is escrow?
Escrow is an arrangement where money or another asset is held by an independent third party until agreed conditions are met. It can add protection where a buyer and seller do not know each other or where a higher-value transaction requires controlled release of funds.
OEM DRIVE LTD and escrow
OEM DRIVE LTD should not be treated as an independent escrow provider simply because escrow is discussed in connection with a transaction. Where escrow is used, the provider and arrangement should be identified and confirmed separately before any funds are transferred.
Before sending money
Verify the escrow provider independently. Confirm the legal entity, official contact details, beneficiary information, fees, refund terms and the exact conditions under which funds will be released. Do not rely solely on payment instructions received by email or messaging.
Release conditions
Read the release conditions before committing funds. They should clearly explain what evidence or event allows the funds to be released, what happens if a transaction is rejected or cancelled, and who is responsible for any return or transfer costs.
Vehicle transactions
For a vehicle transaction, keep records of the vehicle identification details, agreed price, collection and delivery arrangements, condition reports, invoices, communications and any documents supplied by the escrow provider.
Stay alert to fraud
Be cautious of urgent payment requests, changed bank details, impersonation of staff, unfamiliar domains and providers that cannot be independently verified. If payment details change, confirm them using a trusted contact method before sending funds.
Questions to ask the provider
Ask who legally holds the funds, which entity operates the service, how funds are safeguarded, what triggers release, how disputes are handled, what fees apply and how refunds are processed.
